June 20, 2009, The Bayer Estate: I have been waiting a whole year to design this wedding!! My good friend, famous wedding photographer Dave Miyamoto finally got hitched & what a fun wedding it was! I have never seen so much love in one day in my whole life! Dave & Michelle were my dream wedding couple. They gave me their colors & fav flowers & let me run with the ball. The flowers had a local exotic tropical flair with lots of teak bowls, beautiful linens & our colorful paper lanterns!! Michelle’s favorite color is coral so we accented in greens, yellows & white. The actual ceremony was designed on the front veranda of the beautiful Bayer Estate. Lush white dendrobium & phaley orchids, green anthuriums & accents of orange mokara orchids spilled over the front awning of the house above Dave & Michelle’s altar site. The photos below are from my camera but can’t wait to see Dave’s photos. Yes I said Dave- he brought his camera to his own wedding & could not resist shooting!!
Another beautiful sunset in Hawaii
I love this beautiful sunset photo from Dave Miyamoto at the beach in front of the historic Bayer Estate. Weather report today is 84 F & sunny.
Hemingway’s Beach Dining Canopy
I got 2 phone calls & 1 blog comment about this beachy dining canopy today so decided to update you with more photos. I luv luv luv this custom made dupioni silk table runner- the color is a sea blue/ green & it is absolutely beautiful!! I based all my design elements around this table runner. The plates are made of crushed seaglass. Each plate was adorned with a pearl nautilus shell. Glass bowls were filled with sea glass, sand & shells. The benches are custom made with white slip covers. Hanging glass floral balls were suspended over the dining table. This is a great set up for an intimate get together by the sea. Designed at the beautiful Bayer Estate, Honolulu, Hawaii. Dining on the Beach
I created this fun beachy seashell themed dining canopy at the Bayer Estate this weekend. I love all the sea colors in the sea glass plates, napkins, & table runner. Cymbidium & Phaley orchids were suspended inside glass balls over the dining table. This is a great set up for a small intimate gathering.
Hot Hot Hot Sunday Morning!!
It was a very low tide this Sunday AM when the Fab photographer Dave Miyamoto & I took off to shoot one of my latest table designs. We had fun frolicking over the rocks with Mr. Teddy Bayer from the Bayer Estate. He was so regal in his hot pink bow collar. I love this fuchsia crinkle & green dupioni silk linen combo. The bamboo containers of pink mokara orchids complimented it so well. Our new fuchsia covered ottomans, benches & all linen are available for rental.
Dining Canopy at the Bayer Estate
I spent the whole weekend with one of my favorite photographers Dave Miyamoto. Many hours were put into thought & design of this newest dining canopy that we are promoting at the beautiful historical Bayer Estate in Aina Haina. The canopy is a dark stained wood with draping fabric, white lanterns, crystals & hanging orchids. It is available for rental as a complete set up. I love the night shot that Dave captured.
A Morrocon Evening at the Bayer Estate
Here are some before & after shots of a Morrocon Party set up that we designed at the Bayer Estate in East Honolulu. The original plan was to set this on the ocean lawn however strong winds diverted our plans to indoors. It looked great with the beautiful fushia & red fabrics draped over a tent frame & with red uplighting.
Featured Wedding - Christie & Patton
Event date: August 15, 2008
Location: The Bayer Estate
Event & floral decor: Debbie Hemingway * Designs by Hemingway
Photography: Visionari
Cinematography: Angel De Armas
Catering : Ginniberries
Cake: Cake Lava
My planning with Christie began months prior to her event long distance from Georgia
where Patton had been stationed. Patton is in the Army’s Special Forces division &
Chrisite works for the famous Angel de Armas, one of the best cinematographers in
Hawaii. Christie gave me her color palette & was so excited to let me run with the ball.
We created a floral entry of hanging white phaley & cymbidium orchids & lots of columbian
roses over the beautiful Bayer Estates entry to the house. The ceremony took place
under a large milo tree ocean side with long strands of crystals, hanging chandeliers, & lots
of strands of white orchids. We created full & dripping centerpieces of creme & white
roses, white phaley & cymbidium orchids accented with green cymbidium orchids. Her
florals were elevated on a cool acrylic square plate surrounded with lots of candles. The
patio area was transformed by white string curtains , hanging floral chandeliers & the most
fantastic cake that I think I have ever laid my eyes on. Rick & Sasha from Cake Lava
created an amazing cake !! From the lounge furniture & silk pillows, hanging silk
crystal lanterns, flowers galore , great food & music , a magical evening unfolded.
